Orphan Black is my favorite TV show. It is, in my opinion, one of the smartest and most nuanced televisions series ever made, dealing with complex issues like the moral and ethical implications of human cloning, along with family, personal identity, and the lines between science, religion, and their effects on our lives. All this, while having well-developed characters, brilliant script writing, wonderful acting, and an editing team that deserves all the awards because oh my god, one actress plays twelve or so different people, sometimes in the same room and interacting and you’ll be convinced that you’re watching really talented quadruplets or something because that editing is seamless.
So, for the next ten days, here are the Sestras.
To start off, we have Sarah Manning. Antihero, con artist, grifter, orphan, fiercely protective and loving mother, daughter, and foster sister. All the clones are played by Tatiana Maslany, but this picture resembles Kathryn Alexandre, who is Tatiana’s body double and plays all the clones as well. Here’s to you, Kathryn!
